Interviews tips

Plan Ahead

Make sure to plan ahead: First impressions are vital in this process. Make sure you have done your homework on us and have some questions ready to ask, whether they are about the role you are interviewing for or the company. Be prepared for situational and superlative types of questions (demonstrated initiative, best work experience) by having great examples.

Resume

Make sure you have multiple copies of an updated, clean and accurate resume to take with you on the interview. Be prepared to address any employment gaps. Also, make sure to have some examples of defining moments in each of your jobs (here is what I did, what I have learned, contributed and accomplished). Give factual examples of the legacy you left behind in each role.

Be a good interviewee

Show up at least 10 minutes early. Check on the dress code before you arrive. Turn off your cell phone, don’t chew gum and try not to fidget no matter how nervous you are! Always stay animated and energetic and have direct eye contact with your interviewers. Never speak negative about another company or individual. Be sure to remain relevant to the opportunity and question at hand and not ramble or go off on a tangent.

Ask “silver bullet” questions

We expect you to interview us as well and welcome well thought out questions. Focus on questions that address your interest and enthusiasm for the job, the opportunity for growth and various cultural aspects of the company. Ask about major goals for the company and accomplishments the person in this role would need to achieve. Does this company and role sound like a great place for you? If you have concerns, address them to someone – usually the recruiter.

Follow Up

Follow up and follow through is imperative in this process. Send an email or “thank you” in some way to everyone you met. Make sure to do this within 24 hours of your interview so you stay fresh in the hiring manager’s mind. Express your interest, ask what the next steps are and let the recruiter and hiring manager know where you stand with us as well.
